Unloading Carts

I've been thinking... I work at a grocery store, yeah? Well, one day I was working, and a girl I knew came through my line.  She was there with a coworker, sent to pick up things for the business they work for. They were next to check out, and behind them was an elderly woman, hanging on to her cart, loaded with groceries.  As the coworker got out payment for their things, the girl turned around without prompting and happily asked the lady, "May I help you unload your groceries?" Of course the lady accepted; she looked surprised and very grateful as the girl unloaded her things for her. I loved seeing the elderly lady's face as this occurred: she sort of had this cautious smile with her brows knit in an inquisitive expression, and her shoulders fell in relief. As I watched this take place, I was impressed. I kept thinking about it after the girl left. Her act was...incredible, really. It was such a small act, but to that woman it was a huge relief....

I Propose...

What I propose: 1. I propose we say 'I love you' to a family member we haven't said it to recently, even if we don't think they'll say it back. They'll hear it; that's what matters. Sometimes the only time to say these things is now. 2. I propose we smile more than usual. A smile can literally change someone's life. How beautiful would it be to know you were the source of that change in someone's life? 3. I propose we make someone feel special. Give them a sincere compliment, be interested, let them know they're noticed. 4. I propose we be kinder than necessary. 5. I propose we listen. There are so many sounds and noises going at once that we often find ourselves forgetting to hear what matters most. 6. I propose we show our appreciation for someone. Tell them thank you. And mean it. 7. I propose we pick someone up. Whether it be verbal or physical, someone can always use our encouragement and support. 8. I pr...
