Drops of Hope

(Side note: Right now I'm supposed to be writing my research paper. A research paper of the devil! It refuses to let me write it! Blasted...demon paper...thing. So. I'm writing this instead. Also, I just feel the need to write this.)
I am so blessed.
No matter how hard things seem to be, I'm always given such blessings! The Lord is always, always there, sending me little messages of hope at times when I'm feeling the least hopeful. For instance, right now I'm despairing over my research paper--it's a complicated story of which I'll spare the details. As I tried to seek inspiration I suddenly found myself on Facebook (don't judge me!;). Well, now I see why.
Just as I got on, I saw that my friend had just posted a new status. I read it. And tears came to my eyes; I knew the Lord was trying to tell me something. This is what it said:
“It's not as bad as you sometimes think it is. It ALL works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it all works out. Put your trust in God and move forward, with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us... If we put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers.”
―Gordon B. Hinckley
Wow. As I sat thinking about that and how I really needed to trust in the Lord, I got a message from that same friend. In it, it said this:
“Do not despair. Do not give up. Look for the sunlight through the clouds.”― Gordon B. Hinckley
By this point, the tears started coming down my cheeks as I realized what tender mercies I've been given, even in this hard day. Here are a few:
*getting to class on time today
*finding parking
*the weather not being bitter cold
*being prepared for an unexpected book presentation
*being able to go to my sister's house where the internet works
*getting those messages
*eating homemade rolls and jam :)
*my sister-in-law updating her blog!!!!
*having such patient, loving and inspiring friends
Guys (and gals), I don't know what you're going through, or what battle you're fighting right now, but I do know that the Lord is aware of it. He's aware of you. Don't ever forget that. If you find yourself forgetting...take a look around you, and "look for the sunlight through the clouds."
I promise you, it's there.
And, my dear friends and family, thank you. Really. You're a tender mercy in my life, whether you know it or not. :)
